The Electrodeionization (EDI) Membrane Stack is an advanced water purification technology that combines ion exchange resins, ion-selective membranes, and direct current (DC) electricity to remove ionized contaminants from water continuously and without chemical regeneration.
Core Technology & Working Principle
- Modular Stack Design: Comprises multiple cell pairs sandwiched between electrodes with cation-exchange membranes (CEM) and anion-exchange membranes (AEM)
- Ion Removal & Transport: Feed water flows through dilute compartments where ions are attracted towards oppositely charged electrodes under DC electric field
- Concentration & Rejection: Ions migrating into concentrate compartments are continuously flushed away by separate reject stream
