MBR membranes are mainly divided into four types according to their structure: hollow fiber membranes, flat membranes, ceramic membranes, and tubular membranes.
Hollow fiber membrane (also known as curtain membrane) and flat membrane are collectively referred to as "organic membrane", and the main material is PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride). Now there is a new PTFE material, which has a more uniform pore size distribution when pulling the film, known as the "plastic king".
Ceramic film and organic flat film are collectively referred to as "flat film". Ceramic film has excellent chemical stability and can withstand acid, alkali, organic solvents, and high temperatures; The advantages of narrow pore size distribution and high separation efficiency. The main materials of ceramic film are aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, and silicon oxide. The prospects are very promising.
Organic tubular membrane, as a form of membrane element, is suitable for membrane separation technologies such as ultrafiltration, microfiltration, and even nanofiltration. Its advantages are wide flow channels, turbulent flow of feed solution inside the tube, and low precision requirements for pretreatment of feed solution. Tube type membranes are easy to clean, and can be cleaned not only with chemical reagents, but also with mechanical and physical scrubbing methods.
