General Information:
Proper start-up of reverse osmosis water treatment systems is crucial for preparing the membranes and preventing potential damage due to overfeeding or hydraulic shock. A gradual startup sequence ensures that system operating parameters meet design specifications to achieve water quality and productivity goals.
-
Before Start-up: Membrane pretreatment, loading, calibration, and system checks should be completed. Refer to the application literature “Start-Up Sequence”for more details.
-
During Start-up: Gradually increase feed pressure over a 30-60 second timeframe and cross-flow velocity over 15-20 seconds. Discard permeate from the first hour of operation.
Important Information:
-
Keep membranes moist at all times after initial wetting.
-
If operating limits are not followed, the warranty will be voided (see Form No. 609-35010).
-
To prevent biological growth during prolonged shutdowns, immerse membranes in a preservative solution.
-
The customer is responsible for the effects of incompatible chemicals and lubricants on membranes.
-
Maximum pressure drop across an entire pressure vessel (housing) is 50 psi (3.4 bar).
-
Avoid static permeate-side backpressure.
Regulatory Note:
These membranes may be subject to drinking water application restrictions in some countries. Please verify the application status before use and sale. The use of this product does not guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens; effective pathogen reduction depends on the complete system design, operation, and maintenance.
